From a Simple Idea to My First Pop-Up: The Beginning of Luse Leaf Library

Starting Luse Leaf Library has been such a special journey for me, one that’s rooted in my love for books, stories, and giving things a second chance.

As a wife, a mom to a toddler, and someone who has always found comfort in a good book, I realized how many stories get left behind, sitting on shelves, forgotten, or donated without a second thought. I’ve always believed that every book deserves to be read, loved, and passed on. That idea became the heart behind Luse Leaf Library: a place where “lost” books can find a new home.

What started as a simple idea quickly turned into something I felt led to pursue. I began collecting books, brainstorming ways to make them special, and thinking through how I could share them with others in a meaningful way. One of my favorite concepts has been “Blind Date with a Book” wrapping each book so the story is a surprise, giving readers a fun and unique experience.

Then came a big milestone: my very first pop-up event.

I had the opportunity to set up at Aynor Middle School, and I’ll be honest, I went into it feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. I didn’t know exactly what to expect. Would people stop by? Would they connect with what I was doing? Would all the preparation be worth it?

But God showed up in the sweetest way.

The pop-up went so good. People stopped, looked through the books, asked questions, and genuinely connected with the idea behind Luse Leaf Library. Seeing someone pick up a wrapped book, read the hints, and get excited about choosing it, it meant everything to me. It reminded me exactly why I started.

It wasn’t just about selling books. It was about creating a moment. A little bit of joy. A chance for someone to discover a story they might not have picked on their own.

That first pop-up taught me a lot, too. I learned what worked, what I can improve, and how important it is to just start, even when things aren’t perfect. I didn’t need everything figured out. I just needed to take that first step.

Luse Leaf Library is still growing, still becoming, and I’m so excited for what’s ahead. More pop-ups, more books finding homes, and more opportunities to connect with people who love stories just as much as I do.

If you’ve supported me, stopped by, shared a post, or even just encouraged me along the way, thank you. It truly means more than you know.

This is just the beginning.
