In the midst of a busy life, it can be hard to prioritize time with God. On this page, I share a simple, intentional rhythm for daily Bible study that can be adapted to fit any schedule. Whether you have five minutes or an hour, these practices will help you engage with Scripture, reflect on God’s Word, and build a consistent habit of connecting with Him every day. Let’s cultivate a rhythm that strengthens our faith and brings us closer to God, one day at a time.
1. Start with a Prayer
Before opening your Bible, take a moment to pray. Ask God to speak to you through His Word, to open your heart, and to give you clarity and understanding. Prayer centers your mind on what truly matters and invites God to lead your time of study.
2. Choose a Passage
I often recommend picking a specific book of the Bible to work through, or you can choose a devotion or Bible reading plan that resonates with your season of life. Some days, just one verse or a few chapters might be enough to reflect on, while other days, you might feel led to dive deeper.
3. Read and Reflect
Read the passage slowly and intentionally. As you read, ask yourself a few simple questions:
- What is the main message of this passage?
- What is God teaching me through these verses?
- How can I apply this truth to my life today?
Let the words settle in your heart, and allow God’s truth to speak to your situation, your struggles, or your joys.
4. Journal Your Thoughts
Journaling is a helpful tool for processing what you’re reading and reflecting on how it applies to your life. It doesn’t need to be lengthy, but writing down your thoughts, prayers, or any insights can help you retain the lesson and keep track of how God is moving in your life.
5. End in Prayer
Finish your time by praying again. Thank God for the lessons you’ve learned and ask for the strength to live out His Word. Use this time to surrender any worries or burdens to Him, trusting that He is faithful to guide you through your day.
6. Be Flexible
Remember, life happens. Some days you may have more time to dive deeper, and other days you might just have a few minutes. The key is consistency, not perfection. Even on the busiest days, prioritize time with God, knowing that every moment spent in His Word is valuable.
